Considered one of the top 10 dive destinations in the world, Sipadan is famous for massive schools of fish, spiraling barracudas, enormous green turtles and schooling reef sharks. The triangle between Malaysia, Indonesia, and the Philippines is one of the most bio-diverse marine habitats in the world. Strong ocean currents, deep sea trenches and seamounts, combined with active volcanic islands have created a complex oceanographic environment that is paradise for divers. The Sipadan Barrier Reef is the largest barrier reef in S.E ASIA and also has the worlds highest marine biodiversity. Diversity is the beauty of this amazing reef: It offers wall dives with vertical drops to over 600M, cleaning stations that attract manta rays, devil rays and all kinds of sharks! 1000’s of schooling fish and hidden away in the coral shallows are some of the world’s best macro life such as pygmy seahorses, flamboyant cuttlefish, mandarin fish and other marine life that is still to be identified.

THE DIVING:

The dive sites in Sipadan are highly regulated via a permit system – this system limits the number of divers visiting the area daily and sets the maximum number of dives per day to two around the island. Due to these regulations, we will have a maximum of twelve dives within the Sipadan park – 2 dives per day over 6 dive days. The third dive for each of these six days will take place around Mabul. Our other two dive days will be around Mabul and Kapalai for a total of up to 24 dives. Additional house reef and night dives can be arrange at additional cost.

The regulations for this area only allow for Advanced Open Water certified divers, so you must hold this certification (or plan to complete it prior to departure) if you wish to join this trip.
